1. What sparked your interest in nursing studies?
I have always had the desire to work with other people. My parents were also a kind of stimulus, basically their good heart for people. For as long as I can remember, they have shown a willingness to help others and I am grateful to them for being such role models. Nursing offers great development opportunities and many specializations you can pursue.
2. What is it about nursing that continues to intrigue you, or keeps you learning and “on your toes?”
Nursing is my daily inspiration. I feel that I can develop every day. During work, I can see the effects of my job which are very motivating. Thanks to this, I want to continue what I do and enjoy it.
3. Tell us about your specialization. Do you have hopes for specialization? What specialization are you completing at university now and how do you hope to use your education?
Currently, I am in the process of master's studies in the field of nursing at Jagiellonian University in Kraków. I'm graduating this year. In Poland, specialization can be started after 2 years of work in the profession. I would like to start my specialization at the end of this year. It would be a specialization in internal medicine nursing because it gives a lot of opportunities and works in many different departments.
4. Where do you see yourself as a nurse leader in 10 years?
I would like to work in nursing, with a particular emphasis on caring for people with dementia. I would also like to act scientifically, creating a variety of equipment that will enable better care for patients.
5. What is your advice to nursing students who are just entering their studies / nurses who are just entering the industry?
It won't be easy, but the satisfaction of your job that comes later makes up for everything.
6. How do you think we can get more nurses excited to work with dementia care?
In this case, good education at universities on dementia care would be important. Encouraging students through additional training, conferences, courses would also be good measures.
7. Summarize your winning idea in a sentence and please let us know why you think this is important to share with the international nursing community?
"Rediscover the world!" is a project aimed at activating patients with dementia. The project involves the creation of multi-sensory panels, which would contain a variety of elements including not only different textures and colors but also parts reminiscent of functioning in everyday life, such as phone keys, cutlery, vegetables, fruits, calendar, numbers, and letters. With this solution, the patient would be able to stimulate skills in performing activities of daily living. The panels could also be used to reduce anxiety and stress through stimulation with a variety of textures and colors. The modules would be interchangeable with customizable options for each patient. This innovative idea will enable seniors to experience the world anew and reduce negative emotions. My idea is an innovative solution that should be introduced into dementia care. Sharing any innovation in the international nursing community is important and continuously improves the quality of care for patients.
